The team at Eureka Centre are excited to introduce Norman Houghton to speak for the first time at the Eureka Centre about the unique history of the ‘Bunny’ Line. Connecting Ballarat to Buninyong, with a branch-line to Eureka, the railway service added much to the social, recreational, and industrial character of regional life. This talk will explore the history of the Bunny Line from its construction in the 1880s until the 1980s. Norman Houghton is a professional archivist and historian. He has been producing historical writing for 50 years and has published over 45 books. His works centres around a range of topics including timber industry, townships and settlements, churches, hotels, gentlemen's clubs, manufactures, heritage studies, and biographies. His most recent published work is ‘The ‘Bunny’ Line: History of the Ballarat to Buninyong Railway 1889-1986’, in 2023.
